How to use your own domain

Give players an address that is all yours, like play.yourname.com.

Who can use it

Custom domains come with paid plans: 2 on Standard, 3 on Plus, 5 on Pro and 10 on Max.

Add your domain in Kixa

  1. Open Network in your server panel and go to Domains.
  2. Type your domain and press Add domain. A subdomain like play.yourname.com or a whole domain like yourname.com both work.
  3. Kixa shows a numbered guide with the two records to add and a copy button for each value.

Add the records on Cloudflare

  1. In Cloudflare, pick your domain, then open DNS, then Records, then Add record.
  2. Add a TXT record. Name: _kixa for a whole domain, or _kixa.play for play.yourname.com. Content: the code Kixa shows. This proves the domain is yours.
  3. Add a CNAME record. Name: @ for a whole domain, or play for play.yourname.com. Target: your Kixa address, like yourserver.kixa.host.
  4. Before you save the CNAME, click the orange cloud so it turns grey. Proxy status must say DNS only. With the proxy on, nobody can join.
  5. Go back to Kixa and press Verify. New records usually show up within a few minutes.

Other DNS providers

The records are the same. Some providers want the full name, like _kixa.yourname.com, instead of the short one.

Many providers do not allow a CNAME on a whole domain. Use an ALIAS or ANAME record instead, with the same target. If yours has neither, Kixa also shows an SRV record you can add in place of the CNAME. An SRV record works for Java players only.

Joining with your domain

Java players type your domain, like play.yourname.com. Bedrock players add the same domain with port 19132.

Bedrock works on Paper, Purpur, Folia and Leaf servers on Minecraft 1.19 or newer, as long as Bedrock players are allowed in Settings.

Common questions

Verify does not find my records
Wait a few minutes and press Verify again. Check that the names are exact, that the TXT holds the code Kixa shows, and that the CNAME is set to DNS only (grey cloud).
Players land in the Kixa lobby instead of my server
The domain is not verified yet. Kixa only sends players straight to your server once Verify has found both records.
Do I need an SRV record?
Not with the CNAME. The SRV record is only for providers that cannot put a CNAME, ALIAS or ANAME on a whole domain, and it works for Java only.
Does my kixa.host address still work?
Yes. Players can still join with yourserver.kixa.host.
