Mods run on Fabric. Pick it when you create the server, then add mods or a whole modpack from the panel.
Create a Fabric server
Sign up at kixa.host and confirm your email.
Choose Create your server and Start from scratch.
Pick Fabric as the server software and choose your Minecraft version.
Choose a plan, accept the Minecraft EULA and create it.
Add mods or a modpack
Stop your server.
Open Mods in your server panel. Search Modrinth for a mod, or go to Modpacks and choose Install modpack.
Start your server when the install is done.
Before you install
Kixa takes a safety backup before a modpack install and keeps it for 24 hours. Most modpacks change the game, so players need the same modpack in their own launcher to join.
Big modpacks need more memory than the free plan's 1.25 GB. The Pro plan has 8 GB of RAM for heavier packs.
Common questions
Can I add mods to a Paper server?
No. Mods need Fabric. You can switch a server to Fabric under Change version.
Why is Install modpack greyed out?
Stop the server first. A modpack replaces files the running server has open.
